Shopping at Kudamm. The best known and most popular shopping street in Berlin runs from Breitscheidplatz to Halensee and is home to multiple department stores and shops for major chains. As you move west towards Halensee, the boutiques become classier and the window displays more luxurious. Stroll past the showcases of international fashion designers such as Armani, Chanel, and Yves Saint Laurent and be inspired by the latest trends. Behind Breitscheidplatz is the Bikini Berlin. This stylish shopping centre, a building from the 1950s, combines trendy shops and temporary pop-up stores.
Stroll in the other direction along Tauentzienstraße to Wittenbergplatz and you’ll come upon Berlin’s largest department store – KaDeWe.
KaDeWe offers six storeys of designer fashion, accessories, beauty, design, and everything else your heart could desire. The gourmet department on the sixth floor offers the finest foods from around the world to take home to your kitchen or to enjoy right there.
While shopping Kurfürstendamm, also make sure to check out the side streets. Small streets like Knesebeckstraße, Bleibtreustraße, and Fasanenstraße offer many upper middle-class townhouses dating back more than a century that now house many fine boutiques and cafés. If you take a detour towards Kantstraße at Uhlandstraße, you’ll come the home furnishings store Living Berlin and numerous other furniture and design shops.
Shopping with water clock and porcupine
It is the classic one among the shopping centres of the City West. Diagonally across from the Gedächtniskirche, many stores and numerous restaurants invite for shopping and strolling. Moreover, situated there in the building is a large cinema complex and the famous Berliner Cabaret, “The Porcupines”.
In the heart of the city
The Karstadt department store near the Memorial Church offers state-of-the-art shopping in the best department store tradition. A fantastic selection and variety of goods offering everything from the top trends in fashion to the latest lifestyle articles. With top offers on quality brands the café-restaurant on the 6th floor offers a wonderful view over the roofs of Berlin.
Germany’s first concept mall
It’s not just another shopping mall: Bikini Berlin is the first concept mall in Germany, with exciting boutiques, flagship stores and restaurants. You can find high-quality fashion and shoes here, as well as modern design – not the big chains. There are around 20 wooden
Modules known as pop-up boxes, where shops and young start-up businesses can temporarily present their products. This means you’ll always discover something new. The mall and the large terrace look out over the monkey enclosure in the zoo. From the Neni restaurant and the Monkey bar, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city.
In January 2018 a new food market opened at Bikini Berlin – the KANTINI. Thirteen food stalls designed as modular counters by star designer Werner Aisslinger are the centerpiece of the area. Enjoy the loggia with panoramic windows to the zoo, a spacious sofa area, various sitting steps and swings overlooking the ground floor. The Bikini Haus is a listed ensemble of buildings from the 1950s. It gets its name from its unusual architecture with an open colonnade in the middle.
