Most of the houses are classic, old buildings, however, buildings originating from the Soviet era and many modern constructions can be found here as well. A great number of hotels are located along the  the Spree River, which runs through the district.

In the near future, construction of quite a number of projects is planned along the river. This will definitely increase value of properties and market prices in the neighborhood.

Although the neighborhood is quite heavily built-up, you will still find here the huge Volkspark Friedrichshain, a leisure oasis with countless sports possibilities, playgrounds and garden cafes.
Public transportation is excellent: in addition to the S-Bahn (seven lines run east-west and four  north-south) and the U-Bahn U1, U5, there are many tram and bus lines.
